About

Written from the lakeside, not from a desk.

Pokhara Travel Guide is one person’s guide to one city. TODO: author name in data/site.js

Who

I live in Pokhara and have spent years walking its lakeside, hills and trekking trails. Everything on this site is first-hand.

TODO: two or three paragraphs in your own words — how long you’ve lived in Pokhara, what you do here, why you started writing this. Readers trust a person, not a brand.

Why this site

Most of what’s written about Pokhara online is either copied from somewhere else or written to sell a tour. I wanted one place that says plainly what is worth your time, what it actually costs, and which hour of the day to be where — the things I tell friends when they visit.

How it’s paid for

Right now, it isn’t. If that changes — a booking link that earns a small commission, for instance — it will be marked clearly on the page, and it will never change what I recommend. TODO: adjust once monetisation is decided.

Trekking

If you’re here for the Annapurnas, I work alongside a licensed guide who runs small-group treks — Poon Hill, ABC, Mardi Himal and further. TODO: confirm and link to the trekking site. Start with the trekking gateway guide.

Corrections

Prices, hours and rules in Nepal change often. If something on this site is wrong, tell me and I’ll fix it — every page shows the date it was last updated.

Newsletter

A short note from the lake, once a month

New guides, seasonal tips (when the paragliding season opens, when the Fishtail reflection is clearest), and nothing else.
