Three days is the length I recommend to anyone who asks. It fits the essentials without hurrying them and leaves a day to see Pokhara as a Nepali city rather than a lakeside strip.

Day 3

Day 1 — The lake and the pagoda

Exactly as in the two-day plan: lakeshore walk and breakfast, doonga to Tal Barahi, cross the lake, climb to the World Peace Pagoda for the late-afternoon light, back by boat, Thakali dinner, early night.

Day 2 — Sarangkot and the sky

Sunrise from Sarangkot, then a tandem paragliding flight from the launch just below (book the morning slot). Back in Lakeside by midday. Afternoon free — swim, read, sleep. Sunset from the lakefront.

Day 3 — The city

Morning. Taxi or local bus to the old bazaar. Walk up to Bindhyabasini temple, wander the brick lanes below it, buy nothing or buy brass. Stop at the Seti River gorge near K.I. Singh bridge on the way south.

Lunch. A Thakali kitchen in the city, full of locals.

Afternoon. Davis Falls and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, across the road from each other on the south side; then the International Mountain Museum if there's energy left, or straight back to the lake.

Evening. Your best dinner of the trip — see where to eat.

Questions I get asked

Should I add a night at Sarangkot?

If you have a fourth night, yes: sleep on the ridge, walk out of your room to sunrise, and skip the 4:45 taxi.
